The memory of Svāti’s non return to the celestial pole star region is hidden in the marriage Sūtra of Āpastamba-Gṛhya-Sūtra

In one of the articles, Hanumān’s leap towards Laṅkā and the Memory of Flight Path of Swāti Nakṣatra, which was published in MyInd online journal (read here), I had discussed about the flight path of Svāti, used as an adjective to Hanumāna’s flight path to Laṅkā in Rāmāyaṇa. In this mentioned article it was concluded as a very ancient memory embeded in the Rāmāyaṇa where the Nakṣatra Svāti left the north celestial pole region, where it had once served as a pole star, and later took path towards the ecliptic. It is still far away from ecliptic and is on the way to ecliptic. While she is also called Niṣṭyā which means foreigner and is sure for the ecliptic in today’s condition. It can be observed that there is no point of return towards the North celestial pole region again to become a pole star when seen through Voyager simulation.

We come across a very interesting marriage Sūtra from Āpastamba-Gṛhya-Sūtra which states as given below where the character of star Nakṣatra Svāti is synchronised with a situation of daughters married under this star who would not return to her father’s place once given in marriage.

यां कामयेत दुहितरं प्रिया स्यादिति तां निष्ट्यायां दद्यात् प्रियैव भवति नेव तु पुनरागच्छतीति ब्राह्मणवेक्षो विधिः ३

3.[2] A daughter whom he wishes to be dear (to her husband), a father should give in marriage under the Niṣṭyā (Nakṣatra); thus she becomes dear (to her husband); she does not return (to her father's) house: this is an observance based on a Brāhmaṇa.

5. the word Niṣṭyā means Svāti.

These are some very interesting observations of the character of the celestial star synchonised in with the marriage of terrestrial females under that star. Ain’t that an interesting observation.

  1. May be the flight path of Svati & Hanuman’s leap path were parallel & in similar direction.

    1. Not necessarily, but appears the movement from the tip of the end of Indian peninsula to the other side at equator similar to Swati’s leaving one end of NCP circle to the other side of Saptarishi.
